The Host and the Parasite (ISBN 1-893302-97-0) is available through the Dandelion Books store http://www.dandelionbooks.net/bookstore2/cart.php?target=product&product_id=126&category_id=43, and other online and brick and mortar bookstores worldwide.
Writes Felton, who has won awards for his investigative journalism and now specializes in Middle-East and Canadian politics, media analysis and language: “Rather than consider Iraq in isolation as oil-firsters do, it must be placed in the more complete context of Israeli subjugation of the Middle East, especially Palestine.
“Not only does this larger picture reinforce the fact of U.S. subservience to Israel,” states Felton, “but it further militates against considering oil as the prime determinant of U.S. policy… In short, a nuclear Iran would be force for peace and stability, and Israel cannot allow that to happen.”
According to Felton, “Today the republic is dead, brought down by a junta that serves Israel’s colonial interests, not the U.S. national interest. This is the essence of ‘the war on terrorism’ and the motive behind the Sept. 11 attack, the invasion of Iraq and the overt provocations of Syria and Iran.”
Felton quotes Israeli journalist, Oded Yinon, “who wrote that Israel had been looking to dismember Iraq since at least 1982, less than two years into Reagan’s first term: ‘Iraq, rich in oil on the one hand and internally torn on the other, is guaranteed as a candidate for Israel’s targets. Its dissolution is even more important for us than that of Syria. Iraq is stronger than Syria.
“‘In the short run,’ Oded stated, ‘it is Iraqi power which constitutes the greatest threat to Israel. An Iraqi-Iranian war will tear Iraq apart and cause its downfall at home even before it is able to organize a struggle on a wide front against us. Every kind of inter-Arab confrontation will assist us in the short run and will shorten the way to the more important aim of breaking up Iraq into denominations as in Syria and in Lebanon.’”[Oded Yinon, “A Strategy for Israel in the Nineteen Eighties,” Kivunim (Directions), No. 14, February 1982, trans. Israel Shahak]) www.informationclearinghouse.info/article1025.htm>.
“Now the focus of Isramerican belligerence is Iran,” states Felton, “and the contrived hysteria of its nuclear program is exactly analogous to the WMD scaremongering that rationalized the attack on Iraq.
“Fact is, Israel isn’t worried about an attack, just as it didn’t lose sleep over any putative threat from Iraq. Shai Feldman, director of Brandeis University’s Crown Center for Middle East Studies, said many Israeli analysts do not believe that Iran poses an ‘existential threat.’ On the contrary, they see Iran as a risk-averse country that is well aware of Israel’s second-strike capability. In other words, Israel sees the ‘threat’ of Iran as political, not military, and this attitude is explicable only in the broader context of Israel’s repression of the Palestinians and need for regional domination. (Shai Feldman: Cited in James D. Besser & Larry Cohler-Esses, “Iran-Israel Linkage By Bush Seen As Threat,” The Jewish Week, April 21, 2006.)
Felton writes a political column for the bi-weekly Arabic/English Canadian Arab News, and his articles also appear on whatreallyhappened.com, medimonitors.net, rense.com and in Middle East Times, Tehran Times and other publications.
