CHICAGO, IL (September 23, 2010) – The American Lung Association in Greater Chicago today announced that Terry Sanders will be leading their Chicago operations as Executive Director. Sanders comes to the Lung Association from a five-year career with the Lupus Foundation of America where she served as President & CEO of their Illinois chapter and most recently as National Walk Director.

"Terry's rich background in fundraising, management and special events will prove vital for the expansion of our efforts in Chicago," says Harold Wimmer, President & CEO of the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest, the regional charter of which Chicago is a member. "Her fresh perspective will surely bring new ideas and energy to our organization and we're proud to have her on board."

Sanders will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining fundraising efforts for their Fight For Air Walk and Fight For Air Climb as well as engaging and growing a new Local Leadership Board to expand the reach of the organization.

"I'm excited to be on the forefront of lung health and clean air advocacy," says Sanders. "There's so much to be done in Chicago and I feel empowered to help make those changes."

Sanders and her husband have two children in college and enjoy being "empty nesters."
